Plum Creek Timber is a real estate investment trust. Co. manages its timberlands in two segments: Northern Resources and Southern Resources. Co. also operates in the following segments: Energy and Natural Resources, which is focused on oil and natural gas production, construction aggregates and mineral extraction, wind power and communication and transportation rights of way; Real Estate, which includes sales of timberlands and development of certain properties; and Manufacturing, which includes lumber mills, plywood mills and medium density fiberboard production lines in Montana and Idaho. As of Dec 31 2014, Co. owned about 6.6 million acres of timberlands located in 19 states.
